I’m Scott West. By day I’m a professional evaluator and data scientist. By night I trade futures, and I have done the large majority of my trading, and built over 90% of my trading profits, in the Globex session after the workday ended. Midnight Futures is the site I wish had existed when I started trading around a career.
The short version
- Twenty-five years around the markets: equities, options, precious metals, and for the last several years, actively trading futures. Mostly ES and NQ, sometimes gold and crude.
- A measurer by trade. I evaluate programs for a living, and I brought that habit to trading: every trade is logged, graded, and reviewed. You can’t manage what you don’t measure.
- A night trader by necessity that became a night trader by choice. My charts are on through the day, but my trades happen after the 6 pm Eastern reopen, mostly through the first few hours of the session.
- I trade funded prop-firm accounts and my own cash accounts, in small size, with a daily loss limit set in the platform before the first trade.
- Former United States Marine. It is where the discipline came from.
Why this site
I watched too many good people quit because they believed the only real market was the one that opened while they were at work. They traded on vacation days, over-traded when they finally could, and never got the reps that make a trader. Meanwhile I was quietly building a track record after dinner.
The night session is not a lesser market. It has an open, a first hour, participants in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Frankfurt and London, levels that matter, and setups that repeat. It is thinner than the day session in places and faster around news, and both of those are things you can plan for. This site teaches how I plan for them.
How I trade, in one paragraph
I prepare for about thirty minutes before the session: quiet, my principles, the levels, a scan of the news, a bias. Then I wait for price to come to a level I marked, with Bookmap, TickStrike and Financial Juice on screen to tell me when not to take a trade. Five to ten trades a night, one or two contracts, stop behind the next logical barrier, scale out, and three strikes means I’m done for the session, not for the game. Every trade gets a one-minute journal entry before the next one. The details are in the lessons; the proof is in the journal.
What this site is and isn’t
- It is my working method for the night session, taught plainly, plus live sessions, a journal, and a community of people who trade the same hours.
- It isn’t a signal service or a trade room. Nobody here will tell you what to buy.
- It isn’t a system for sale. There is nothing to purchase on this site; the only money I make here is from affiliate links to tools I use, which are disclosed.

Trade the session your life actually allows.
The night session is a complete market. Learn how it moves, watch me trade it live, read the write-up the next morning, and if you want people who trade the same hours, there is a room for that.
